INSURANCE POLICY

MiKids Pediatrics will be parring with the following insurances:

Aetna/ Cofiniy, ASR, BCBS, BCN, Cigna, McLaren, Medicaid, Priority Health Medicaid, Priority Health, Tricare/ Humana and UHC.

FINANCIAL POLICY

MiKids Pediatrics is more than willing to work with your insurance. If we participate with your insurance, your copay will be collected at the time of service. If we do not participate, we will collect the payment in full at the time of service. We accept cash, check or credit cards.

 

In compliance with current legislation, any care provided outside of standard well check up will need to be documented and billed separately and will involve a copay.

 

NO SHOW AND CANCELLATIONS

We understand that life's circumstances can cause you to be late or miss an appointment. If you need to cancel an appointment with one of our doctors, we ask that you give us 24 hours advance notice to make that slot available to another patient who may need it. If you fail to call and cancel your appointment an hour or less before your scheduled time, it will be registered as a “no show.” If you receive 2 or more “no shows” this may warrant a fee of $25 and you ultimately may be asked to discontinue service with our practice.

Our dietician and therapy visits are hour long appointments and so failing to show up or failing to cancel these appointments within 24 hours of your scheduled time will result in a fee of $50 each time.

VACCINES

MiKids Pediatrics believes very strongly in the safety and effectiveness of the the child vaccine schedule as put forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics. These vaccine recommendations are based on many years of hard scientific research by the best scientists and doctors in the world and each vaccine is rigorously tested and retested. Our sole purpose as pediatricians is to help you make the best choices for the short and long term health of your child or young adult and getting vaccinations is one of the most important ways to accomplish that.

We certainly welcome discussion about vaccines, but if you are certain that you are unwilling to vaccinate your child, we would ask that you seek care elsewhere as this office may not be a good fit for you.

ALLERGY INJECTIONS

MiKids Pediatrics offers allergy shots M-F 8 am-4:15 pm with appointment.

We work in tandem with your allergist and according to their protocols. We do require your first injection from a new vial be given at the allergist's office as well as any injections after a delay where you need to build again. We also require you to wait a full 30 minutes after your injection to be rechecked by our staff to ensure your safety.

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES

The prescribing of controlled substances (primarily stimulants used for the treatment of ADHD) has a unique set of rules to be aware of. In particular, there are mandatory med check visits within a month of starting a controlled substance (or after dose change at the discretion of the prescribing physician) and every 6 months to continue to receive your refills. If you fail to show for these medication checks we will not be able to refill your prescription. (One of these can be in combination with a yearly well check.) If it has been more than 100 days since your last fill of your prescription it is treated as a new fill by insurance so a med check visit is required. For refill requests on stimulants or similar controlled substances, we need at least 2 business days to complete them so plan accordingly!
